It’s 6.15am and I’m currently sat up in bed with Arabella on my boob. This is the third feed of the night – 12am, 3am, 6am. You think I’d be super tired and grouchy, and come midday there’s a very good chance that will be the case. But during these moments, all I can think about is how lucky I am that Ive been blessed with this perfect little angel, and how I would go to the ends of the earth and beyond for her. I don’t mind that my nights are now a routine of feed, sleep, wake, feed, sleep, wake (with a lot of breast pad changing and winding in between). Don’t get me wrong, as any new mum will tell you, these first few weeks are mentally and physically draining – it’s certainly not a walk in the park. But as mum’s, our maternal instincts overpower any feelings of tiredness. We power on through – sore nipples and all! Besides, I heard the Jack Nicholson out of the shining look is in, so I’m winning right!?
