Back in April, Ashley and I found out that we were expecting our first child *inserts hundreds of baby & love heart eye emojis*. It was so hard keeping it a secret, but the cat (baby) is finally out of the bag, and our little bundle of joy is due to be making an entrance to the world on Christmas Eve 2017. We honestly couldn’t be happier, and although it was a fairly stressful first trimester, what with the morning sickness (ALL DAY SICKNESS) and crazy hormones, so far my second trimester has been a lot easier, hence I’ve taken the opportunity to get back into blogging! I’ve also just uploaded a new beauty post which you can check out here http://sarahjanecryer.com/2017/07/20/beauty-products-junejuly-favourites/.
We had our first scan really early, when I was just 8 weeks. I had no idea how far along I was as my cycles are a bit all over the shop, so the midwife booked me in for a scan more or less straight away. I’ll never forget seeing our little bean on the monitor for the first time – it was so tiny, literally the size of a kidney bean! Our next scan was at 13 weeks, and wow didn’t those weeks make a difference. Baby was jumping around, rubbing its face, kicking its legs in the air! Anyone who has been through it will know the overwhelming surge of emotions that flood your body the very first time you see your baby moving around on that monitor. Ashley cried straight away – one glimpse and he was a goner! I on the other hand managed to hold it together until we stepped outside of the room, then boom – the flood gates opened. We’re now eagerly awaiting our 20 week (and FINAL – yikes!) scan which is in 2 weeks time, which will also be when we find out the sex if all goes well *eeks*.
Now as the title of this post suggests, we also have another bit of news to announce, because having a baby just wasn’t enough! So alllll the way back at the beginning of this year, Ashley and I went ring “shopping”. I say “shopping” because at the time, I thought I was just trying on rings to get an idea of what style I liked/ suited me, however, little did I know that I was ACTUALLY choosing my future engagement ring.. We went into Pravins in Cardiff, where I tried on the most BEAUTIFUL ring. It was everything I would have wanted – simple, classic, elegant and just stunning in every way. Now fast-forward to the 19th of June – the day of our 13th week scan. It’s the hottest day of the year so far, our baby is healthy and we’ve finally told all of our family and friends our news. This day couldn’t possibly get any better… Oh wait, scrap that, Ashley just got down on one knee, presented the mother of all rings (yes – THE ring!), and asked me to marry him – turns out it definitely can get better!!
The 19th of June 2017 – A date we won’t be forgetting anytime soon
