If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen that it was my Birthday at the beginning of the month. Yep, overnight I transformed into a mature, 26 year old adult! Obviously I’m kidding, I feel exactly the same as I have every Birthday since I was 21. Thats the thing as you get older, people assume that because you’re a ‘twenty something’ that you have your shit figured out; that you know the difference between a latte, a cappuccino, a flat white and a macchiato (as of last month I actually do know what a flat white is – TOTAL game changer!). The truth is we’re all just winging it – life, eyeliner, everything. In the words of Carrie Bradshaw “Are we getting wiser, or just older?” Speaking of winging it, I’ve never written a blog post before in my life, so please bare with me! I sort of feel like the new kid as school, you know, that feeling of stepping onto the playground where everyone knows the rules and you’re just standing there like an awkward fish out of water. That’s sort of what enticed me about blogging – the fact there really are no rules – I want to be able to talk openly about the things I’m passionate about, and share the things I like (and dislike) with you. Mostly it will be stuff I like because lets be honest, no one likes a mood hover. Okay, I feel like I’ve rambled enough, so if you haven’t already fallen asleep, then lets move on to what I got for my Birthday.. (I feel like the photo above kinda gave it away *eye roll emoji*)
Yep, you guessed it – this beautiful black jacket from REISS! I absolutely love tailoring, I just think that a nice, smart blazer or jacket can spruce up any outfit. Over the years I’ve accumulated a fair share of blazers – some of which I still wear – but most of which have ended up in a charity shop or shoved to the back of my wardrobe. I decided that I would invest in a good quality jacket, that wont go out of style and that I will wear for years to come. I spotted this jacket whilst in the REISS store in Cardiff and instantly fell in love! The collarless neckline along with the slim line tailoring give it that structured yet feminine look, and the single twist fastening detail on the front add to it’s elegance.
Now you’re probably thinking, why on earth would you buy a black jacket in April when summer is around the corner? Firstly, I live in the UK – chances are it’s going to be chilly a lot more than it is sunny. Secondly, this jacket will look just as perfect teamed with denim jeans, a cute top and a pair of barely there sandals, as it would with leather trousers and a pair of knee highs! I can’t wait to get the ootds rolling with this bad boy! Do you have any staple items that you couldn’t live without?
